Michaele Dean Rogers, died on Jan 18, 2025. Born March 6, 1949 to James F. and Doris H. Dean in Staten Island, NY. Since reading obituaries was a favorite past time, I am writing this one for myself with help from my friends.
I was born to the best parents ever. Our family moved to Summerville, SC in 1956 where I went to local schools, graduating from Summerville High School in 1966. I went on to college at the University of South Carolina, but left after 2 years as I entered into the workforce. I worked in the mortgage and banking business before going to work in 1974 as a real estate agent with my mother Doris Dean, who owned Doris Dean Realty. In 1988 I was given the business by my mother and retired in 2019.
I married Boyce Stephen Patterson in 1970 who died from cancer in 1978. In 1980 I married Wilson Rogers. Although, never having children, we have had a wonderful life. We loved to play golf, dance, party with friends, and boating.
I loved playing golf with my husband and friends, playing mah jongg, bridge, and poker. I loved my yoga practice which I did for many years. Other than keeping busy with these activities, I also enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and working in the yard. I was a member of many organizations and cared for my Summerville community deeply. My friends in my bridge club, mah jongg group, Bloody Mary's lunch group, and yoga practice are all family to me.
I am survived by my husband, my sister Bonnie Dean Doty, my brother James F. Dean Jr., and my nieces Laura Doty Adams and her husband Adam, and Christine Doty. I am also survived by my two best friends Sydney Walker Haynes and Sissue Boyle Beauchene. We lunched and laughed together monthly for over 30 years. Ricky and Candy Chavis with their 2 sons Sawyer and Grayson became like family. Surviving are my many pets whom I loved as children.
Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their loving care, and many thanks also to Juliette Spells for her devotion and joyful spirit.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Dyal Funeral Home and a service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, January 23 at 2:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Michaele's memory to Dorchester Paws animal shelter.
On to the next life........
