Michael Whayne Sebrey, 67, of Anchorage Alaska, passed away peacefully and comfortably at home on Sunday, Pi Day, 3.14.2021. He had terminal cancer.
He was born 6-25-1953 in Lafayette, IN, son of Whayne W. Sebrey and Elizabeth (Betty) Rose Baines Sebrey. He grew up in the Lafayette area until he moved to Alaska in 1982.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette and attended Purdue University in the Forestry Program. Mike met Pamela Wuestenfeld Sebrey in 1973 & they became inseparable, getting married in August of 1976.
Mike learned and mastered many trades over the span of his life. He was a Pipefitter, Flight Instructor, Commercial Pilot, IT Manager, & Photographer. He was a cook extraordinaire, both indoors and out. He so enjoyed riding his motorcycles ( AKA 2BikeMike) and completed the round trip ride to Sturgis 5 times via the Alcan and once with Pam from Seattle to Sturgis. He was also very interested in anything space related, gardening and forestry. He was Pam's Renaissance man.
He is survived by his wife Pam; and son, Whayne M. Sebrey and daughter-in-law (Elizabeth Winther) of Anchorage.
Other survivors include sisters Anne Butzlaff and Maureen (Kasper) Hubrich of Lafayette, IN, Kit (Steven) Schafer of Brookston IN, Brothers Emory T Lencke of Brownsburg IN, Samuel J Lencke of Memphis TN and John K Sebrey of Lafayette IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Whayne and Elizabeth Sebrey and his brother James J Lencke, all of Lafayette IN.
A Celebration of Life will be organized involving a cookout and fire pit stories in Anchorage later this summer per his wishes.
