Michael E. Nonnemacher
Michael E. Nonnemacher, 68, of Jim Thorpe, passed away Tuesday evening after a courageous lengthy battle with cancer. He was the husband of Barbara (Vella) Nonnemacher.
He held various positions in production planning and inventory control for various companies prior to his disability.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of Irene (Besek) Nonnemacher of Jim Thorpe and the late Kermit Nonnemacher.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe.
A 1968 graduate of Jim Thorpe High School, he also graduated from Lehigh County Community College and Penn State University.
He also worked at the Mauch Chunk Museum and was a member of MENSA and the Lehigh Canal Commission. He enjoyed bicycling, hiking and praying the rosary. He proudly recalled being one of the first teenagers in Jim Thorpe to sport long hair during the 1960's and also enjoyed shopping for the latest mod fashions at the former Oberson store.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are: daughters, Sarah and her fiancée, Jesse Jones of Lehighton and Catherine of Jim Thorpe; brothers and sisters, John Nonnemacher and his wife, Sandra, of Hazleton, Harry Nonnemacher and his wife, Carolyn, of Lehighton, Lottie Hager and her husband, James, of Summit Hill, Joanne, wife of Josiah Behrens III of Jim Thorpe, Kathy McGuire and her husband, Peter, of Jim Thorpe and Faith McDade and her husband, Paul, of Quakake; grandchild, Maxsim Jones; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to John Drury for all of his kindness shown to Michael.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., Wednesday, Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe. Interment at the convenience of the family. Call, 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, David J. Stianche Funeral Home, 123 Center St., Jim Thorpe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to Carbon County Environmental Education Center, 151 E. White Bear Dr., Summit Hill, PA 18250. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton.
