Michael Patrick Moriarty, of Simi Valley, CA, died October 8, 2018. He was 79 years old.
Mike was born on March 7, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to his parents, Mike and Eleanor Moriarty. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. He married Louise Taylor in 1962 and moved to the San Fernando Valley of Southern California in 1963. He earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles and worked for Rocketdyne (and its various corporate owners) for more than 40 years, working on the J-2 thrust engine and the first moonshot early in his career.
Mike and Louise moved to Simi Valley in 1967, where they raised five children. He was a loving (and patient) dad and grandpa, always generous with his time.
Mike is survived by his wife, Louise; his children, Mike, Tom, Chris, Frank, and Eleanor; and his grandchildren, Connor, Riley, Matthew, Allison, Lauren, and Talulah. In addition, he is survived by two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will take place on October 20, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home, 2636 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley, CA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mike's life
