Michael found peace on January 30, 2021 at the age of 37. He was a resident of Mequon, Wi. He was the son of Sally E. (nee Freer ) Klingler and Mark J. McNally and stepfather Douglas Klingler. He is also survived by his brother David M. McNally, step-sister Jaime Klingler and her daughter Aubrey Hoon and half sisters Alexa McNally and Olivia McNally. He was further survived by his Aunt Cindy ( Larry ) Mahrt, his cousins, extended family and many friends. Michael was born June 19, 1983 in Methuen, Massachusetts. After living in the Boston area for 5 years, he moved to Naples, Florida in 1988 with his mother and brother. There he enjoyed fishing and boating and living close to his maternal grandparents and later extended family. His loving grandfather was a huge influence on his life. He attended college in Florida, NC and was currently finishing his senior year at the UWM Lubar School of Business in Milwaukee majoring in marketing where he excelled on all levels. His love for music began at age 8. He enjoyed playing piano and later guitar with his brother and friends. A favorite past time was playing golf with his brother, mother and father. He loved adventure and a few of his favorite memories were hiking the Appalachian Trail and surfing in Costa Rica. Mike's greatest accomplishment was managing his mental illness for the last 20 years. He was supported by the constant devotion of his mother and his family. He was proud of his sobriety, having been sober for almost 14 years. Living a life in recovery takes total dedication and it brought him great joy in sponsoring his fellow members. He was grateful to have traveled to South America with an International recovery fellowship for a retreat. He was a mentor and a shining example of what it means to serve others, and was a kind, loving and gentle man. Prior to his return to college in Milwaukee he lived in Michigan for 14 months working on a farm and helping others like him. Before he left due to the pandemic, he helped reorganize and implement recovery meetings alongside staff. His goal after his 2021 graduation was to include his service to others through the recovery. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Robert and Kathy Freer and his paternal grandparents Joseph and Muriel McNally. Prior to his death he and his mother were able to have eight wonderful months of laughter, love and hope together. We will always hold dear his love and kindness to all.
A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Lumen Christi Catholic Church (Mequon, WI) at a later date when family can arrive due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to either The Milwaukee Chapter of AA; if you are a member, or to NAMI Ozaukee County namiozaukee.org
