Michael D. MacDonald,74, passed away peacefully at home in East Kingston, with his wife, Patricia and his son, Daniel by his side.
Born in Andover, MA to Leo E. and Edith M.(Gilman) MacDonald, Michael grew up in Lawrence, MA. He attended local schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1968. After receiving his Associate Degree from Northern Essex Community College, he was drafted into the US Army earning the rank of E-5 and was assigned to the Pentagon.
Michael's career was mainly working as a commercial lender then vice president of commercial lending at several banks, including Shawmut. He enjoyed his morning walks of up to 10 miles daily with his dog, Rocky followed by Shadow. A true dog lover, he later enjoyed time with his son's dog, Damsel, who he always rewarded with treats.
Michael leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Patricia (Holland) MacDonald, son Daniel, and grandson Leo, both of Hampstead, NH. Michael was especially grateful for every moment spent with his grandson. He is survived by his sister, Patricia and Phillip Chick and sisters and brothers-in-law Rina and Jack Petit, Paula and Maurice Holland, Deborah Eggers and Dolly Holland. Michael had five nieces and nephews and six grand nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his brother-in-law Keith Eggers.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 10 to 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA. Donations in Michael's name can be made to Homeland Heroes,10 Delaware Dr. #1 Salem, NH 03079.
