Michael Norman King, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 24, 2022, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Cathryn; his son Eric and wife Karalee; his beloved grandchildren, Kortney, Kaylee and husband Nathan, and Porter; and his brothers Paul, Clair, and his sisters Janis and Kaye Anne. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jay.
Mike was born on June 7, 1943 to Norman and Venda King and raised in Lewiston, Utah. He attended North Cache High School at which time he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Cathryn Nelson of Fairview, Idaho in the Logan Temple in July of 1963. Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a General Secondary Teaching Certificate in May of 1966 from Utah State University and began his thirty-nine-year career as a teacher in the Snake River School District just outside of Blackfoot, Idaho.
Mike taught History, Driver's Education and served as the Jr. High Head Wrestling Coach for over thirty-three years where he influenced the lives of thousands of students who adored him for his cheerful, humorous, and caring approach to teaching and coaching. He truly made a difference in the lives of his students and will be remembered by them and his colleagues for his devotion and service.
Mike loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and took advantage of the Idaho outdoors as often as he could making a lifetime of wonderful memories with his family.
Mike and Cathy retired and moved to North Logan in January of 2010 where they spent many years enjoying each other and their very close-knit family whom he loved very much.
Mike cherished his testimony and often expressed gratitude for a lineage of many who had faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ that he shared.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and Saturday, December 3 from 9:30-10:30 am, after which funeral services will then be held at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1650 E 2600 N, North Logan, UT.
