Michael Ira Glasscock passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 following a brief illness. Michael was born on July 3, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ira Ivan Glasscock and Lillian "Billie" (Andersen) Glasscock.
The family moved to Willoughby, Ohio where Michael's father Ira opened the Glasscock Chevrolet dealership. Michael graduated from South High School in Willoughby and Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a member of the Theta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi.
Michael met the love of his life, Judith Anne Saunway, when the two were introduced at a friend's wedding and married a year later at Willoughby Methodist Church. After graduating from OWU, Michael joined his father in business at the family's car dealership in Willoughby. Michael and Ira later opened their second dealership, Glasscock Chevrolet Cadillac, in Sidney, Ohio. Michael had a lifelong love of flying, and he first soloed a plane at age 16, getting his private pilot's license at age 17 out of the Lost Nation Airport. Michael loved music, and in his younger days, he was a drummer in a band, The Kings. Michael was a 32nd Degree Freemason receiving his 50-year pin from Temperance Lodge #73. After selling the car dealerships, Michael moved his family to the beautiful Piedmont region of North Carolina in Hickory.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Anne of the home, a sister Diane Glasscock Burt of N. Fort Myers, FL; two sons Dr. David Michael Glasscock (Dr. Laura) of Matthews, NC; Dr. Bradley James Glasscock (Caitlin) of Berkeley, CA; a daughter Dr. Heather Christine Glasscock Hatcher (Wade) of Mt. Airy, NC; and six grandchildren Daniel Wade Hatcher of Winston- Salem, NC, Mary Glen Hatcher of Tucson, AZ, Caroline Valerie and Audrey Megan Glasscock of Berkeley, CA, and Alexander David and Madison Reese Glasscock of Matthews, NC.
