On February 7th, 2022 Mike laid down his sword after a long and courageous battle against a rare lung disease and cancer. We will find comfort in knowing he is completely healed in heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Ida. Mike is survived by his wife, Lindsay. Together they were able to share and build a life for 20 years. He is also survived by his son Michael, daughter-in-law Amanda, and grandson Christian. Son Kevin, daughter Natalie, grandson Jace, and daughter Athea (Jimmy), brothers Delbert (Kim), Mark (Saundra), and several nieces and nephews. Mike was born in Arcola, Virginia on February 10th 1959. He was a graduate of Broad Run High School. Mike was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 40 years, starting at Arcola Fire and Rescue Co 9 and then moving to Front Royal and volunteering at Shenandoah Shores Co 5 until his illness made him hang up his gear. Mike was a rare type of talented carpenter who worked for Hitt Contracting for almost 30 years. He spent the last part of his working years doing what he loved, wood working and taking care of an old historic estate of his very special friends, John and Marilyn Cowles. Mike will be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, friendship, and a heart made of gold. A viewing will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel Friday, February 11th from 5-7pm. A graveside service will be held at Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Virginia Saturday, February 12th at 1pm led by Reverend Gary Arthur, which will be held at the outdoor pavilion. Memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice or Saint Jude Cancer Research.
