Michael William Diekemper, 60, of Springfield, MO passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children. His battle with Glioblastoma for 26 months showed his strength as he fought with a charismatic smile and positive attitude. He was a true fighter.
Mike was born July 27, 1962, in Belleville, IL to Robert and Arlene Diekemper. Mike was a 1980 graduate of Parkway West High School and in 1984 earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. He had a successful 34-year career with UPS, and was a member of Teamster Local 245, retiring in 2017. Mike met his wife, Renita (Rennie Cron) in the fall of 1987 and they married in April of 1990. Together, they had three children, Alexis, Josephine, and William. Mike built a beautiful home 28 years ago just outside of Springfield. He was a busy man and led a full life with many close friends which he dearly loved. Mike had many hobbies, was a talented craftsman, and loved talking about different kinds of wood. He had a passion for repairing and restoring cars of all makes and models, running a business for those services out of his “shop”, and operated a snow-removal business during the winter months. Mike had a love for music and many times you could find him sitting on his front porch listening to the live greatest hits pretending to play the drums on the porch table.
Mike is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rennie as well as his three children, daughter Lexi Johnson, husband Steven, and grandson Rudy; daughter Josie Werner and husband Joey; and son Will Diekemper. His parents Robert and Arlene Diekemper, brothers Greg (Rita) Diekemper, David (Delia) Diekemper, sisters Julie (Steve) Malecki, and Susan (David) Ablen, and many nieces and nephews which he loved so.
A private funeral mass will be held with immediate family at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. For all other family and friends, a Celebration of Life event will be held October 29th, 2022, 4:00 - 7:00pm. Location and details will be announced soon.
