Michael Joseph Campbell, 89, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born at home in Baltimore, MD to George and Margaret Campbell. Michael graduated from Sparrows Point HS and spoke often and fondly about his time on the football and lacrosse teams and his many teammates and friends who remained in his life throughout adulthood.
After attending Drexel University, he enlisted in the Navy and served for 25 years as a Naval Aviator, retiring as a Commander, after being stationed aboard ships and on bases throughout the US. While serving, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. Mike, Patty and their six children moved several times until they settled in Toms River, NJ, for Mike's last tour of duty in the Navy, and the end of a career he was incredibly proud of. He went on to work at several other positions, including working for a defense contractor until his second retirement at age 63. Michael and Patty enjoyed annual trips to Maine, Florida, and Pennsylvania as well as beach trips to Hilton Head Island, Long Beach Island, NJ and Ocean City, MD until Patty's death in 2004. They were married for 49 years.
In 2009, Michael married Lois Crossett. Their marriage also increased the Campbell clan, by adding Lois' daughter Kelly and her family. Mike and Lois remained healthy and active, traveling the world until her death in 2018. In addition, to his parents, George and Margaret, and wives, Patty and Lois, Mike was predeceased by his son Kevin. Surviving Mike are his sister, Mary and brother, Paul; his five children and their spouses: Michele, Scott and his wife Diane, Todd and his wife Linda, Brad and his wife Pamela, and Melissa. Mike is also survived by Lois's daughter Kelly and her husband Bill Huntley; and his six cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Evan, Ryan, Jack, Matthew, and Rachel.
