Michael James Brannan
Our hearts are breaking as we announce the passing of our dear dad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Mike was born in Vancouver, WA on September 19, 1952 and went to Heaven on June 27, 2021 after battling lung cancer.
Mike spent his childhood years in Anacortes and Mt. Vernon, attending Immaculate Conception School and graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1970. He attended Skagit Valley and Yakima Community Colleges, where he played a year on the successful baseball team before a lifelong career in the flooring business.
Mike grew up playing baseball and his entire family was his cheering section. As he got older, he played on many co-ed softball teams in the Skagit Valley area, where he served on the Board of Directors. He very much loved playing softball and the camaraderie of being with his teammates with annual camping trips in the North Cascades. He also enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Mariners, Seahawks and Husky football.
When not playing sports, or working Mike also enjoyed shuttling his boys' sports teams to tournaments and games where he was a very proud and supportive father.
Mike married Vicki Megard in 1980, gaining a wonderful son, Scott. They later had Patrick and Andrew and the boys were the light of Mike's life. Mike loved watching them play sports and going on family vacations together each summer. Mike was also instrumental in caring for both of his parents before their deaths.
He will be fondly remembered for his good natured and great humored attitude. His infectious laugh and appreciation for the simple things, along with his kindness will be sorely missed. He enjoyed helping others by volunteering at St. Charles Catholic Church Food Bank.
Mike is survived by his sons Patrick (EK), Andrew (Andrea), his siblings Mary, Liz, Paul and Molly, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a lifetime of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Vicki, son Scott, and his parents John and Peg Brannan.
The Committal Prayers for Mike will be Friday, July 9, 2021, 2:00 pm at Hawthorne Memorial Park, followed by a reception in the Hawthorne Reception Room.
