Michael “Mike” Craig Barger, 75, of Faith, was greeted by the Lord as He came to take him home on Thursday, July 14, 2022, unexpectedly at his home. He was born July 22, 1946, in Rowan County, to the late Craig Leroy Barger and Mary Ellen Gibson Barger. Mike attended Faith School and East Rowan High School before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971. He served in Vietnam for two years before being honorably discharged in 1976. Mike worked with his father as the owner of Barger Septic Service. He loved his work and continued to help coordinate jobs with his son and grandson. Mike was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salisbury and was an active member of Faith American Legion Post 327. He enjoyed going to the mountains and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Barger Canup and his granddaughter, Jennifer Burch. Mike is survived by his wife, Joyce Cooper Barger, whom he married May 26, 1978; children, Jimmy Burch of Faith, Leslie Trexler (Dale) of Faith, and Rocky Burch (Nancy) of Faith; grandchildren, Daryl Trexler, Mellissa Beaty, and Dani Trexler; eight great-grandchildren; niece, Rebecca; and nephew, Wayne. Visitation: The family will greet friends and relatives from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salisbury. Service: The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., at the church, with Pastor Philip Johnston, officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC 28144. Military Funeral Honors will be rendered by the North Carolina National Guard and Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2515 E.
