Michael C. Almond passed away at his home on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He was 75 years old. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Barbara Almond; his daughter, Michelle Doster; and his granddaughter, Allison Doster. He also leaves behind three brothers, Corey Almond (Yvonne), Steve Almond (Lisa) and Kevin Almond (Leslie).
After returning from Vietnam, he married Barbara Burgess Almond at Prince Avenue Baptist Church, February 21, 1971. Mike completed his Tour of Duty at Fort Mac. He then worked for Athens Trust Company for 20 years in the computer area in accounting.
Mike served as a Deacon at Oconee Heights Baptist Church, Chairman of Deacons and then Treasurer. Later Mike returned to the church he grew up in undefined Prince Avenue Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon there also.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, with Rev. David Shiver officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
