On September 4th, 2020, Merrie Winkler left this earth at the age of 92. Although born in the San Francisco area, she lived most of her life in Cortez, CO. She spent her youth at Mesa Verde National park as her parents Ansel and June Hall were the owners of Mesa Verde Company. She was a graduate of UC Boulder and went on to marry William Winkler in 1949. Together they took over the family business and she spent her life dedicated to traveling to remote areas to buy authentic and quality hand crafts from Native American tribes of the southwest to sell to visitors from all over the world.
Merrie is survived by her husband Bill of 72 years; 5 children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Merrie was known for her compassion, contagious spirit and her great sense of humor. If she were to write her own obituary she would probably make note that WalMart has lost a very good customer. She will forever be known for her ability to make the world laugh.
