JAMES DYAL FUNERAL HOME
Merla Mae Oliver passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, in Charleston, SC. She was born on March 4th, 1932, in Dorchester, SC to the late George Poland and Rosa Bell Martin.
Merla spent her time growing up in Tennessee before relocating to Charleston, SC to spend the rest of her life. She had many enjoyments in life including cooking, traveling, shopping for clothes and most of all, spending time with her beloved family. Merla worked in the transportation business as a taxi driver for many years until her retirement. She had a heart of gold and would do just about anything for someone in need. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Janie Easterling, Elizabeth Mallard, Walter Poland, Robert Polland, Alice Canaday and Jeanette Hilton.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485, on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, at 11:00am.
