Meredith Nell Powers West, 48, of the Cedar Creek community in Fayetteville, NC arrived at her heavenly home the afternoon of August 8, 2019. She was born October 26, 1970, the oldest of three children, to Robert and Susan Powers. Meredith graduated as the 1989 class valedictorian from Hibriten High School in Lenoir, NC. She then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Relations in 1993. While a student at UNC-CH, she met the love of her life, Kevin West, whom she married in 1998. Meredith worked with Wells Fargo as a mortgage consultant for 20 years, but her most impassioned career began in September 2005 when miracle baby Mary Hannah arrived. As a wife, mother, and daughter, Meredith was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman, and her motherly joy multiplied in September 2009 when another miracle, Kaleb Robert, completed their sweet family.
Meredith treasured every moment spent with family and friends. Her greatest love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her servant's heart was evident to all. Meredith participated in her beloved Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and served as Class Administrator for the BSF morning group. She had a heart for children and giving, and passionately worked in Samaritan Purse's Operation Christmas Child. Meredith also had a great love and passion for her church. Musically gifted, she loved singing in her church choir. She also served as Missions Coordinator and spent countless hours volunteering in Operation InAsMuch.
Meredith valiantly battled cancer four times over the course of 21 years. Her faith never wavered and we know as she left Kevin's arms in her earthly home she was immediately welcomed into Jesus' arms in her heavenly home, hearing Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your Lord!" (Matthew 25:23) Our hearts are heavy and we will miss our sweet Meredith's quiet strength, her servant's heart, and her joyful spirit. Although she lost her earthly battle with cancer, because of what Jesus did on the cross she has won the war and is in her heavenly Home. We rejoice in her victory! "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me; but also to all who have longed for his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:7-8) Like Job, she KNEW that her Redeemer lives!
Meredith is survived by her faithful husband Kevin, her two precious children Mary Hannah and Kaleb, and her loving parents Robert (Bob) and Susan Powers. Also surviving are her brother Bryan Powers (Tiffany), sister Robbie Carraghan (Jared), and parents-in-law Tommy and Frances West; brothers- and sisters-in-law O'Neil and Diane West, Lisa and Freddie Womble, and Mike and Connie Mangum; nieces and nephews Cordelia and Adelaide Powers, Matthew (Megan) and Nathan West, Lesley and Andrew Womble, and Hannah, Weston and Jennah Mangum; and great nephews Bryce and Vann West, all who loved her dearly.
