Melvin Krous

Born in Grandview, Washington to Art and Mildred Krous. He graduated from Grandview High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy . He became one of the first pilots of the new Helicopter squadron serving as Air and Sea rescue pilot on 12 different carriers.
Returning to Grandview he joined the family business of Krous Transfer. He later became the Maintenance Director of the Grandview school district.
Mel loved singing and was in many groups, large and small from a quartet to a 20 voice group called Sound Expressions, to the much larger group of the Valley of the Sun in Yakima and the Ano -chords after moving to Anacortes in 2000. He met his wife Leslie Moore performing in Mame in 1988 with the Lower Valley Musical Company. Upon both their retirements they moved to Anacortes in 2000.
Mel is survived by his wife Leslie daughters Melanie Lewis (Dean) of Grandview, WA and Lorie Saleba of Gig Harbor, WA, and several grand and great grandchildren in Eastern WA.
A memorial service will be held March 17 at 2:00 in the United Methodist Church in Anacortes.
