Melody Ken Etheridge, 62 of Clarksburg, WV went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 7, 2020 at United Hospital Center after a short battle with Covid. She was born January 29, 1958 in Albuquerque, NM the only daughter of late Kenneth Wesley Irwin and Lois Pearl Rosenquist Irwin Slider who were Evangelist and Songwriters who wrote the famous Hymn "The Healer." She was a mom, faithful friend and ultimate yard-sailor, but her favorite name was Nana. Nana loved the Lord, her grandchildren, Christmas and ordering takeout. She taught her daughters how to laugh, mother, make a roast, how to give all their love for babies and a sixth sense for finding a deal. She is survived by her five children, Kristy Daughterty and Brian, Clarksburg, WV, Melissa Molisee and Cory, Cambridge, OH, Weston Etheridge and Mischell, Rivesville, WV, Melinda Vinson and Scott, Clarksburg, WV, Kenneth Etheridge and Holly, Woodward, OK; and twelve grandchildren: Amber, Journey, Sydney, Erica, Kaylee, Sophia, Olivia, Mia, Lucas, Lexi, Kameron and Konner. She will be dearly missed by her cousin and best friends Eric & Robin Rosenquist Cache, OK and David & Wendy Etheridge Bolivia, NC. Melody was raised in the back seat of a Cadillac going to and from revivals, camps and churches across the United States. She went on mission trips across the Atlantic, where she rode on camels in Egypt and was baptized in the Jordan River of Israel. She spent many years with family and friends at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle campground in Ashland, Virginia, where she served and sang and shared many memories. The adventure continued in marriage and motherhood, with children and grandchildren as a mother of five and military wife.Nana loved animals, any kind of animal. She raised many dog breeds and loved every minute of it. She never met an animal she didn't love, from puppies to humming birds. She became a collector of tiny pet figurines and Minnie Mouse as she got older. If you ever met Melody, you would know she was always in the mood to laugh, loved the Lord and was passionate about her grandkids. She loved the beach, the Outerbanks, fireworks, being poolside and Disney. She didn't have much but was always willing to share, especially with her grandchildren. She never knew a stranger. Even her past 10 months in the nursing home at River Oaks she made many new friends who were her nurses. Her nurses knew her name well, mainly for the takeout she would have smuggled in. She had a contagious laugh, child like faith, and a creative way of Truth-Telling (all of the kids and nurses will get this) She loved to sing and the last song she would sing was "Every little thing is gonna be alright" and we believe her. We know we'll be alright because Nana taught us we never walk alone, we serve a good God and she trusted him and so do we.In lieu of flowers, the family request that you order Chinese or your favorite takeout, and spend some time with those you love. Call, hug and pray with those you are fortunate enough to be with. She will be smiling down from Heaven. Have a wonton and a Merry Christmas for her.To the River Oaks staff, the family can not thank you enough for loving and caring for our Mama and Nana when were not able to. We are forever grateful for your wonderful care.Nana was saying just last week how proud she was of her granddaughter Journey for traveling to the University of Rome for her first year of College.Memorial is to be held at a later date when all the family is well and able to be together.Per Melody's request, she will be cremated.
