Melisa Marie Ferguson, 59, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on May 19, 1962. Six weeks later, her family moved to the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas, where she resided until her death. From childhood, Melisa enjoyed various genres of art, literature, music, dance, and theatre, later instilling her appreciation of these in others. In addition to introducing her family and friends to new experiences, Melisa's other loves were the "4 C's" - cooking, crocheting, cats, and church. As an active, lifelong member of Webster Presbyterian Church, she served on a plethora of committees including fellowship, campus management, senior ministry, and served as clerk of session and as an elder. After graduating from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1987 with a degree in computer science, Melisa's career as an aerospace engineer and technical trainer included working for Barrios Technology, I-Net, Wang, and BMC Software. She selflessly left her professional career to take on the role as caregiver for her parents, Gordon and Barbara Ferguson, who preceded her in death. Left to cherish Melisa's memory are her sister Michele Ferguson; brother-in-law Michael Talplacido; niece Kaela Talplacido; nephew Keegan Talplacido; and her Webster Presbyterian family. A service celebrating Melisa's life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Webster Presbyterian Church, 201 West Nasa Parkway, Webster, Texas 77598. Helen DeLeon will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, Melisa requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in honor of Gordon and Barbara Ferguson.
