On Thursday September 15, 2022, Melba Frances Munoz, loving wife, mother and grandmother gained her wings at the age of 74.
Melba was born in Pecos, Tx. July 9, 1948 to parents Sista and Pablo Granado. A devoted mother, wife and grandmother Melba enjoyed every moment with her family and her husband of 56 years Jose-Antonio Munoz Sr. She was a mother of 9 wonderful children, grandmother of 22 and great grandmother of 3. Melba enjoyed traveling, watching her children and grandchildren in their many extracurricular activities including band, theater, choir, dance and sports. Melba and her husband Jose-Antonio Munoz Sr. were married 56 years and made a lifetime full of memories. Melba was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer underwent treatment and fought it, recently the cancer came back and she was in the process of beginning treatment. She was optimistic of her odds and had the support of her family. Melba was a devote Catholic. She worked and retired from ECISD where she met many friends who she cherished and always enjoyed catching up with. Many people at ECISD will remember "Mrs. Melba" as sweet and caring lady with a beautiful smile and warm heart.
Preceding her in death is her Mother Sista Granado, Father Pablo Granado and daughter Josephine Jimenez. She leaves to cherish her memories Husband Jose-Antonio Munoz Sr. (Tony), Sister Lea Venagas of Odessa, Daughters Diana Frances Munoz of Round Rock, Tx., Maria Christina (Christy) Leal and husband Arthur of Odessa, Cindy Munoz-Morgan and husband Scott of Cedar Park, Tx., Rachel Michelle Bunch and husband Justin of Midland, Sara Elizabeth Friel of Odessa. Sons Jose-Antonio Munoz Jr. (Joey) of Odessa, Michael Paul Munoz of Odessa, Steven Victor Munoz and wife Laura of Odessa, 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Pallbearers Matthew Salazar, Seth Dunnam, Mikey Munoz, Jason Friel, Steven Munoz, Ethan Bunch, Anthony Jimenez and Jon Murray. Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of her wonderful grandchildren.
A visitation for Melba will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 N Jackson Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A rosary will occur Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 1700 N Jackson Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 907 S Dixie Blvd,, Odessa, Texas 79761. A burial will occur Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Ector County Cemetery, 300 S Dixie Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79761.
