Melba (Hutchinson) Pharr, 85, of Knox City, Texas, passed away, in her home, on Monday, March 14, 2022. Visitation will be held at Knox City Foursquare Church at 11 a.m.-12p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 with the funeral following at the same location at 2 p.m. under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Melba was born March 7, 1937 in Knox County, Texas, to Cleveland and Opal (Branton) Hutchinson. She leaves behind a legacy of touching lives and helping others which is showcased in her 50 plus years of service as a nurse. Melba helped establish the Knox County Hospital Auxiliary and the Haskell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary while serving as the Director of Nursing for each facility. She also enjoyed fishing, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by sons Weldon Pharr of Irving, A.J. Pharr and wife Dana of Lubbock; four grand children: Patrick Abbott and wife Tien of Ft. Worth, Jennifer Sharp of Knox City, Shelby Pharr of Lubbock, and Joshua Pharr of Lubbock; great-grandchildren: Hayden Abbott, Jaycee Sharp, and Harper Abbott; sister Ila Kay Gross and husband (George) of Knox City; sister-in-law Nona Hutchinson of Stamford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ed Pharr; parents Cleveland and Opal Hutchinson; brothers Charles Hutchinson, Wayne Hutchinson, and Weldon Hutchinson.
