SPRING HOPE - Melba Hobgood, age 81, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Born in Johnston County, NC on August 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Moses Beasley and Elsie Young Beasley.
Melba loved to golf and was a member of four different ladies golf league. She loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers in her yard. She enjoyed making the most perfect flower arrangements. Melba and Jerry loved to travel and attend classic car shows. She enjoyed playing the card game canasta. Melba loved to decorate at her home and at her church. She was a devoted member of Peachtree Baptist Church where she graciously served in many functions and loved her church family. She loved all children and cared for them all like they were her own. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family. She touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness.
Melba is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jerry Hobgood; her sister, Diane Clifton and husband, Lanny, of Clayton; her brother, Wayne Beasley and wife, Linda, of Durham; her brother-in-law, William Hobgood and wife, Judy, of Lake Gaston; her nieces, Susan Hobgood, Keri Strickland and husband, Sean, Kristi Stancil and husband, Bradley, Kasey Shipwash and husband, Brandon, and Alison Beasley; her nephew, John Hobgood; and nine great nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own children.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Peachtree Baptist Church, 3523 N. NC Highway 581, Spring Hope, NC 27882 with Rev. Eugene Whitehouse officiating. Burial will follow the service at Peachtree Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of Peachtree Baptist Church.
