Melba Jean Folmnsbee, age 96 of Bridgeport, passed away late Friday night, November 11, 2022, at BridgePointe Health Campus of Vincennes, IN. She was born March 6, 1926, in Roxbury, KS to James Martin Ash and his wife Mamie (Rector) Ash.
On November 4, 1943, Melba married Homer Cordell Folmnsbee in Roxbury, KS. Together for 72 years, they shared a wonderful life. Homer preceded Melba in death on June 27, 2016.
After moving to Bridgeport in 1958, Melba worked at Pete and Rose Cisne's grocery store and Art Shuff's IGA for a while before taking a job at Brian Lumber Company. She stayed there until her retirement after 25 years. All the while, she was a homemaker to her family.
Melba was a member of the First Christian Church of Bridgeport since 1958. She taught Sunday School classes and served as the Primary Superintendent.
Surviving relatives include: two children- Curtis Cordell Folmnsbee and his wife Pam of Bethalto, IL and Rebecca Jean Nestleroad and husband Gary of Bridgeport, IL: six grandchildren: eleven great-grandchildren: and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services for Melba will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow services at Bridgeport City Cemetery.
