Melba Lois Emerson, of Duncan, Oklahoma, was born April 15, 1951 in Brownfield, Texas to Connie Alton and Ethel Levene (Frazier) Taylor. She passed away at the age of 70 on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at her home with her family at her side.
Services are scheduled for Monday, December 20, at 10:00 A.M. at West Alameda Church of Christ with Harry Tackett, minister, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Melba graduated in 1969 from Seagraves (Texas) High School. On May 30, 1970 she married Tony Emerson at Seagraves. To this union three children were born - Tonya, Teena and Tim.
She was a cake decorator for 20 years which she loved doing. She was employed as a school bus driver for 35 years. She loved the children who were on her bus route. She was a member of a bowling league for 12 years. She enjoyed painting and started painting more once she moved to Duncan. She accompanied her husband on his wheat harvest trips all the way to Canada. Melba was a member of Elk Avenue Church of Christ in Duncan and had been a member of the West Alameda Church of Christ in New Mexico. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
Melba is survived by her children: Tonya Pritchard of New Mexico, Teena and husband Dickey Mann of Oklahoma, and Tim and wife Michelle Emerson of New Mexico; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchild, Nicole Emerson; and sister, Nadene Huffman.
