Melba Louise Webb Ellison, 81, of Jal New Mexico, was born January 30, 1943, in Colorado City, Texas to Harvey and Louise Palmer Webb and passed away on February 14, 2024 in Andrews, TX. Melba was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jal.
She moved to Jal from Gladewater, TX with her parents at a very young age. She attended Jal schools and graduated in 1961. After graduation, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Louis Ellison, on August 24, 1961 in the Calvary Baptist Church in Jal. They celebrated 62 wonderful years together. Their son Mack was born in 1962 and Roy was born in 1964.
Her business career started at Dr. Ron Willard's dental office in 1971 as a receptionist and dental assistant. She then worked for El Paso Natural Gas Co, Sid Richardson Energy Services, Southern Union, and Energy Transfer for 40 years before retiring in 2012 after many years at Jal #3 Plant. Besides being a dedicated employee, during these years she raised Mack and Roy, attended all their activities, cooked, kept an immaculate home and was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also a Pink Lady at the Jal Hospital in the 60's.
Jim was a big game hunter and Melba accompanied him on several safaris and other trips. She traveled to Egypt, went on safari with Jim to Australia, New Zealand, and Africa and one time came home with malaria as a souvenir of that trip.
She had an exceptional eye for color and style and was a wonderful interior decorator. She decorated their home and trophy room in African decor, and it looked like the cover of a home designer magazine. Melba loved going to South Texas on spring breaks with family and friends, attending Jal class reunions and taking Jal Gal trips to San Antonio and New Orleans. Other than spending time with her grandchildren shopping was her #1 activity, along with going to movies, reading, and watching John Wayne movies on TV.
Even though in later years Melba was plagued with severe arthritis she still had her sense of humor. She will be terribly missed by family, many friends and former colleagues.
Survivors are her husband: Jim of the home; son: Roy Ellison and his wife Teresa of May, TX; daughter-in-law: Shawn Ellison of Midland, TX; four grandchildren: Kylie Ellison of Odessa/Midland, TX; Justin Ellison and wife Briana of Greenwood TX; Braden Ellison and Beth of Austin, TX; Shayla Ellison and Colby of Ft.
