Maxine Damino Llewellyn passed away on July 11, 2021, in Katy, Texas. Maxine was born to Anthony and Lucille Damino on February 17, 1936, in Newport News, Virginia. She was the first of two daughters.
Maxine graduated from Newport News High School and married Charles Llewellyn in 1954. They moved to Ashland, Virginia while Charles attended Randolph Macon College. Maxine's strong work ethics began there while she worked various retail and banking jobs. After several years staying home raising their daughter, Bronwen, she rejoined the workforce. In the early 80's she began her career at Lockheed Aircraft Company. She was promoted and transferred to the Washington DC office, where she worked in their Legislative Affairs group. She retired from Lockheed and moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, where she resided for the past 25 years.
During her retirement, she and her sister would travel together and always had a good time. They loved their time at the beaches of the Outer Banks. They travelled all through New England and visited every inch of her beloved Virginia. Their last big vacation was driving west through the Grand Canyon, and up through Montana and the Dakota's and Badlands. She was also able to travel to Europe several times. She was active in helping to plan her high school reunions. She thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship shared during these reunions.
Maxine is preceded in death by her father and mother, Anthony and Lucille Damino, and her sister, Annette Anderson. She is survived by daughter Bronwen Llewellyn and grandson Nick Llewellyn, both of Katy, Texas, and her nephew, Tony Anderson, and wife Kathy, of New Kent, Virginia. There are numerous cousins around the country as well. There is one special person that was a beacon of light in Maxine's recent years. Katina West was her companion, caregiver, advocate, but more important, her friend. Katina was there to assist and care for Maxine with compassion and love. Katina was her eyes when she could no longer see, and she was her voice when she could no longer talk. The family is deeply appreciative of Katina for all her help and strength throughout the years. The family would also like to acknowledge Pat and Kia, who provided additional care and love to Maxine.
At Maxine's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service planned. She requests that gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in her name.
Funeral services held under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home, 1344 W. Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas 77494 (281) 391-2424
