Maxine Walker Dyer, born October 27th 1939 passed away March 2nd 2022. She is survived by her only child, Marsha Dyer Hendrickson and her favorite nephew, Gregory Allen Dyer, as well as many dear friends and beloved nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Dyer and her mother, Margaret Ellerbe Walker & siblings: Earlymae Payne, E.A. Walker, & Betty Sebastian. Maxine grew up in her beloved hometown of Monticello Florida and later moved to Tallahassee, attending Florida High and Florida State University. Upon finishing her education she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked as a legal secretary. There she met Robert Reid Dyer whom she married in 1965. Maxine was first and foremost a loving mother and loyal friend. She was proud to be a girl scout leader, and avid animal lover. She knew all flowers by name and loved gathering and making uniquely beautiful arrangements. She was Optimistic, Strong, Colorful, Kind, Caring, Courageous. She had a great sense of humor, being voted the "wittiest" in her H.S. class. She loved swimming at Wakulla Springs, and was a mermaid at heart, even trying out for the Weeki Wachee Mermaid team. (Only missing out for being one inch too short). But most of all, even unto her last day she was using her gift from God: An immeasurable ability to lift up and encourage all those around her. We love you. Thank you for being uniquely you. A celebration will be held at Wakulla Springs Lodge at 2pm on Saturday, March 12th.
