Max Weldon Richards, 75, of Westbrook, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2020 in Abilene with his loving family by his side.
He was born on December 7, 1944 in Lamesa Texas to Albert and Alice McNew Richards.
Max was a good Christian man who believed in the simpler things in life; a faith in Jesus, working hard, and putting his family first. He and his wife Rita spent 30 years farming before he retired and they started their business making soap. He was a very quiet, soft spoken man who liked people but liked his peace and quiet even more. Max was a cancer survivor, and he always said that his love for family and his special bond with his granddaughter is what pulled him through that and many other struggles in life.
In his spare time he loved to go hunting in Arkansas with his cousin, going fishing and camping, and taking care of his fur babies, as well as wood-working- leather working, and making soap molds. His strong work ethic and family values are a true legacy for his family to follow.
Max is survived by his wife Rita Sue Richards of Westbrook, a daughter Me'Linda Sue Richards of Lubbock, and by his grandchildren Kelsei Richards and boyfriend Timothy Horn of Colorado City and Lauren Richards of Lubbock and a great-grandchild Aris Horn of Colorado City. Also surviving is his sister Della Porter and husband George of Colorado Springs Colorado.
