Max Jay Flickinger, age 82, of Wakarusa, passed away at 8:10 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born November 24, 1939 in Wakarusa, IN to Charles and Katheryn (Weaver) Flickinger. Max was a 1957 Wakarusa High School graduate and a lifelong area resident. On May 25, 1963 he married Maribeth Stouder in Wakarusa. Max was a U.S. Army Veteran. He had worked as a CNC operator for CTS in Elkhart and then at Bendix/Honeywell in South Bend for 30 years. He also read water meters in Nappanee for 17 years. Max was a member of the Wakarusa American Legion Post # 307 and Bremen Masonic Lodge # 456. Surviving is his wife of 59 years Maribeth Flickinger, Wakarusa; children, Todd (Debbie) Flickinger, Pomona, CA, Dave (Kelly) Flickinger, Mishawaka, Traci (Troy Creigton) Flickinger, Wakarusa; grandchildren, Kim (Joey) Criswell, Justin (Meranda) Flickinger, Randi (Robby) Hoffer, Samantha (Dave) Korlowicz, Brittany (Jerry) Wilke, Austin (Cecily Keihn) Davis, Josh Lannoo, Nikki (Shane) Crane; 22 great grandchildren; and sisters, Sally (Jack) Hess, Syracuse, IN, Donna (Don) Siebert, Goshen, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Flickinger; and brother, Rex Flickinger. Family and friends may call from 2-7 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022 followed by Masonic Rites service at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, Friday, August 26th also at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Nelson of Grace Point Church, Nappanee will officiate. Burial will follow in Olive West Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wakarusa Public Library.
