Maurice Dale Clark, age 100, went on to his heavenly home on Monday morning, November 4, 2024, to reunite with his beloved wife, Betty. A resident of Morning Pointe Assisted Living Community in Franklin and a longtime resident of Trafalgar, Maurice will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on January 20, 1924, at the family farm in northwest corner of Camp Atterbury, Maurice was the son of the late John Wilbur and Cora (Coy) Clark. He graduated from Nineveh High School in 1942 and proudly served as a Radioman Third Class in the United States Navy during World War II. He then served in the Army Air Corp until receiving an honorable discharge in July 1946. He later re-enlisted in the United States Air Force - Fort Wayne, where he served as a Staff Sergeant and Senior Records Specialist during the Korean War, until his honorable discharge in May 1952.
After his military service, Maurice returned home to work on the family farm in Trafalgar for the next 40 years, alongside his role at Trafalgar Hardware as a farm machinery mechanic where he retired after 35 years in 1989. He was a very helpful resource to many farmers in the area.
Maurice was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 72 years, Betty Lou (Hickey) Clark, who passed away on August 13, 2023. They were married on May 31, 1951 at the Morgantown United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Beulah Dinn, Marjorie Mahoney and Merrill Clark.
Maurice is survived by his children, Debbie (Greg) Wood of Trafalgar and Ron (Pat) Clark of Martinsville; his grandchildren, Molly (Chris Bibbs) Clark of West Valley City, UT, and Ben (Emily) Wood of Northfield, MN; and great-grandchildren, Nora Bibbs and Isla & Cillian Wood.
A longstanding member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church, Maurice served as a Trustee for many years. He was also involved with the Indian Creek FFA as an Advisor. Maurice was passionate about sports, proudly calling himself an "Armchair Quarterback." He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana University Basketball. He cherished his time farming and tending to his vegetable garden, but above all, he took great pride in his family, whom he loved dearly.
