Maureen V. Reney, 92, passed away on November 27, 2025, Thanksgiving afternoon, after declining health. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 10, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Santo and Mary Veneziano. Maureen grew up in New Britain, later relocating to Newington, with her husband Albert A. Reney (predeceased) and children Lisa and Tony. She also enjoyed her favorite home at Black Point Beach for so many years.
Maureen was blessed with a life well-loved and loved serving others. She was active for many years at The Holy Spirit Church, President of the Women's Club and President of the Young Democrats. She was an active "Corporate" alongside her husband, as a long standing donor and sponsor of New Britain General Hospital, now Hospital of Central CT. She volunteered frequently, giving her time and love to causes she believed in. She had personal connections with so many close friends, enjoying many good times together. She loved people and people watching; random strangers would engage in conversation about something and in no time, she was like your best friend. She was well-read and informed, always a sharp mind until the end. She was a mom's mom; always with guidance, support, love and many times, a good meal and just listening. She was so courageous in daily life and what obstacles she found in front of her. Her struggles, fears and doubts lead her to leaning on her faith, and her family, whom loved her very much and will miss her dearly. Maureen had wonderful caregivers, all compassionate and devoted. Their loving care provided extended independence and her family will be forever grateful. Maureen's presence was a blessing to all who knew her and her absence will be felt always. She was predeceased by her husband Albert A Reney. She leaves her daughter, Lisa R. Hamilton of Vermont, and son, Anthony S. Reney and his wife Maria of Wethersfield, grandchildren, great grandchildren and two Goddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 5th, at 10:00 am, directly at Holy Spirit Church, Newington. Burial will be private. Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington is serving her family. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to Newington EMS at www.newingtonems.com.
