Tomshack, Maureen Grace Age 66, of Fuquay Varina, NC passed away on June 28, 2022. She was born on July 17, 1955 in Jackson, Michigan, the youngest child of Joseph and Clare (McDermott) Tomshack. Maureen graduated from Lumen Christi High School in Jackson, Michigan. She graduated from St. Mary's College (Notre Dame, Indiana) in 1977. Maureen received her MBA from the University of Detroit (Detroit, Michigan). Maureen maintained friendships with high school and college classmates. She had lifelong friendships with numerous college friends. They traveled and vacationed, as well as gathering to tailgate at Notre Dame football games. Maureen worked in the banking industry as Vice President of Trust Planning for NBD and Wells Fargo. Many of her coworkers became lifelong friends and she enjoyed mentoring new employees. Golf was another great joy of Maureen's life. She captained her college golf team and continued to play well in her later years. Her relocation to North Carolina was work related, but the opportunity to play golf all year was a significant benefit. She had bragging rights at Devils Ridge Golf Club for scoring a hole in one. Maureen loved dogs. She fostered, rescued, participated in dog training programs, and provided dog-sitting services. Maureen's dogs were used at North Carolina State Veterinary School for blood donations. She also had extensive training in dog obedience. Her two sweet German Shepherds, Sky and Shadow, survive her. This chapter in her life brought her great happiness. She volunteered making beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization. Maureen also visited the elderly at nursing homes with her dogs. Maureen enjoyed travel. She made numerous trips to Ireland with her sisters. She skied in Switzerland and Banff. Large family vacations allowed Maureen to be involved with her 13 nieces and nephews and their growing families. Maureen is survived by her siblings, Nan Tulchinsky, Mary Frances (James) Carr, William (Margaret) Tomshack, Winnie Tomshack, and James (Geri) Tomshack. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clare; brother, Jack; brother-in-law, Mark Tulchinsky; and nephews, Michael and Ryan. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 111 Carlton Blvd, Jackson, Michigan, with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Donations can be made to a local humane society or animal shelter.
