Maureen "Mo" Katherine Stanley
What do you remember about Maureen "Mo"? Share your stories and photos here, and invite others to come share their memories.
On the morning of June 24th, Maureen "Mo" Katherine Dillon Stanley died peacefully in Hanover, NH at the age of 85. She was our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend and we will all miss her so much.
Maureen was born on December 5, 1935 in Newark, N.J. to Katherine Ryder Listman Dillon and Paul Joseph Dillon. She grew up in West Orange, N.J. with her brother, Dick and sister, Diana. She graduated from West Orange High School and spent two years at Endicott Junior College. Mo loved high school, her yellow Mercury convertible, and all of her friends, especially Bev (Brown) and Arlene (Dezao).
She married William (Bill) Paul Stanley on May 11, 1957. Mo and Bill met on the Jersey Shore in Sea Girt, N.J. where she would spend her summers. She loved the ocean and had many, many happy memories at the beach (in N.J. and Florida).
During their 64 years of marriage, Mo and Bill lived in Newark, N.J., West Orange, N.J., Oakland, N.J., South Windsor, CT, Amherst, N.H., Miramar Beach, FL and Grantham, N.H. During the first 10 years of their marriage, they welcomed three children, Billy, Bryan and Christine, to whom Maureen dedicated her life. She loved them dearly and unconditionally.
In addition to family vacations in Sea Girt and Manasquan, Mo enjoyed aerobic dancing, golf, tennis, playing bridge, book clubs, planning and going on trips. She loved hosting parties, going to parties, and getting into the spirit of every holiday! Her greatest joy came with becoming a grandmother; she had seven grandchildren. She was extremely proud of this accomplishment. Mo was always fiercely loyal to her family and had a great sense of humor. Her one disappointment was not being able to consistently beat Bill in Gin Rummy.
Surviving family members include Maureen's husband, William Paul Stanley, Jr.; her children, William Paul Stanley III (spouse Sandra Stanley), Bryan Matthew Stanley (ex. spouse Jeanne Stanley), and Christine Katherine Stanley Meehan (spouse Robert Meehan); and her grandchildren, Nicole Alison Stanley, William Paul Stanley IV, Molly Annette Stanley, Patrick Dillon Stanley, Shannon Marie Stanley, Park Yung Morgan Meehan, and Sun Min Katherine Meehan. Maureen is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Richard Dillon and her sister, Diana Tidaback.
Calling hours will be on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 2-3 pm followed by a 3 pm service at Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH. A reception will follow at the New London Inn, 353 Main Street. All are welcome to come celebrate Maureen's life.
