Maureen "Mickey" Sullivan Beatty Burrell
Born to Patricia Cleary and Robert Shallcross Beatty on April 8, 1940, in Westfield, New Jersey, "Mickey," name of Maureen, grew up to be a beautiful woman of deep faith and a gentle heart, and in my life is the strongest woman I know. In 1958, a family move to Fort Laudrdale, FL, with sisters Patty-Ann Beatty Piller (deceased) and Karen Beatty Delisle, our beloved Mickey had the chance to meet and fall in love with Claude George Burrell. They married on November 19, 1960.
Claude and Mickey's journey began on the Fort Campbell Army Base where Claude was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. Moves as life changed, hard work and determination brought Claude and Mickey to Summerville, Georgia to build a home in the country and finish raising their three children, Deborah Smith (Travis), Bobby Burrell (Yvonne), and Jenny Smith (Keith).
Mickey demonstrated her love for her family and God with her home cooked meals, her encouragement, and her pure joy for us over every accomplishment, big or small. She took care of her people well, including her "boys" at the shop during the many years she worked at Georgia Power. Mickey volunteered in the Altar Society, helped the Sisters with their errands, helped teach CCD classes, and helped teach Renew classes in the churches where she was a member - St. Gregory in Fort Lauderdale, FL, St. Marys in Rome, GA, and St. Clements in Calhoun, GA.
Mickey's legacy is love. Her love was poured into her children. They pour that love into fifteen grandchildren. And now, a third generation of eleven great-grandchildren are receiving Nana's love, still. Mickey's love remains in Claude's heart; she gave him her faithfulness and undying love till she entered Heaven's Gates early Sunday morning, May 22, 2022. Her legacy of love will out live her children, and will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She loved. She loved deeply. She prayed earnestly and kept watch over her loved ones. Mickey's love will never die, but remains here to be multiplied, remembered, and cherished, forever.
