Matt Lundstrom passed away on May 6 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Washington, with his loved ones by his side. He was 41.
Matt was born to Carl and Colleen Lundstrom on Jan. 1, 1981, in Mount Vernon. He was the first New Year's Day baby born in Skagit County that year.
Matt spent most of his life in the Skagit Valley area. His first job was as a newspaper carrier for the Skagit Valley Herald. Matt worked as a server in the restaurant business for several years. In January 2020, he found his niche with Safe Haven Security Services, as a sales representative. Matt loved working for Safe Haven and formed many close friendships. He enjoyed making connections with his coworkers and customers.
Matt grew up racing quarter midgets, with his dad as his pit crew. He extended his love of racing to go-cart racing with his eldest daughter Kalika.
Matt enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking, playing video games and listening to music. Whatever Matt was doing, his music was playing.
Matt is survived by his loving parents and two daughters, Kalika (16) and Kaiya (11), both of whom he loved unconditionally. Matt gave his heart to his fianc? Jessica Jones and her three children, Kyle (14), Conner (11) and Khaleesi (7). He also is survived by his sister and best friend Sandra Lundstrom, his adored niece Alexis (18) and nephew Lincoln (12), who thought of Matt as a father figure. Matt also left behind many aunts, uncles and cousins.
IN MEMORY OF YOU
If we could visit heaven, even for a day maybe for a moment, the pain would go away.
I'd put my arms around you and whisper words so true, that living life without you is the hardest thing to do.
No matter how we spend our days, no matter what we do, no morning dawns or evening falls when we don't think of you.
A service for Matt will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Inspire Church of Skagit Valley, 805 Township Street, Sedro-Woolley, Washington. Dress is casual.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Autism Association.
