Matthew Christopher Martin, of Portland, beloved husband of Lisa (Nordquist) Martin, for 15 years, passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 45, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Henry and Maudine (Wright) Martin, Jr.
Matthew lived in Portland his entire life and graduated from Portland High School. He worked for Jarvis Products in Middletown and was a member of the Polish Falcons Club Nest 519 in Middletown. Matthew was a diehard Giants and Mets fan. He loved fishing and the Raceway Park in New Jersey and enjoyed the Alabama Roll Tide and playing poker.
Along with his wife and parents, Matthew is survived by his brother, Derek and wife Iesha A. Martin of Middletown and his half-brother Leon Singleton of Florence, South Carolina; a sister-in-law Amy Mogulnicki; a niece Mya Mogulnicki; God daughter Ayanna Iesha Martin; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matthew was predeceased by a special friend, Chris Taylor.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., at Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Meriden. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew's memory may be made to Mount Hebron Baptist Church Building Fund, 84 Franklin Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
