Matthew Birch Campbell, 56, passed away peacefully on June 1st at Transitions Hospice of Wake County, North Carolina. Matt was born in Chester, South Carolina and grew up in Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina. He attended University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and was a proud member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, graduating in 1987 with a major in economics. He had an outstanding career in telecommunications sales starting in Charleston, South Carolina and then Atlanta, Georgia. Matt worked for several of the major corporations in telecommunications over the years and traveled extensively. He was known for his sales ability and flourish. During these last few years, he was General Manager of Duct Doctor, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Matt is survived by his mother, Catherine Aslund Campbell and stepfather, Raymond F. Paquette of Raleigh; his brother, Joseph Avery Campbell, III. Other maternal surviving family are Charlie and Missy Aslund, Hannah and Andy Johnson of Fuquay Varina, NC; cousins, Mitch Medford of Peachtree City, Ga., Jane and Bob Hooper and daughters, Rebecca and Sarah of Isle of Palms, SC, Carl and Janie Aslund and sons Ted and Tyler of Lexington, SC; paternal survivors include, Mary Anne Davis and daughter, Holly and son, Patrick of Lancaster, SC, Robin and Cleve Statham and son, Joseph of Chester, SC. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Campbell, Jr. of Chester, SC.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 119 East Vance Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC. The family received friends and their guests afterwards for a time of remembrance.
There will be a graveside service at Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elm Road and Cameron Road, Lowrys, SC on Saturday June 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm followed by a meal, immediately following, at the Lowrys School Community Building, 2266 Old York Road, Chester, SC (Lowrys). Family, friends, and guests are invited to attend either or both functions.
