Marylou was born on July 22, 1933 in Oklahoma City, and she was adopted by C.P. and Daisy McKinney. She participated in chorus, cheerleading, plays, and band, and she graduated from Marlow High School in 1951. Marylou met the love of her life, Tommy Mahaffey, while they were attending school in Marlow, and the two joined in marriage in Gainesville, Texas on February 13, 1954. Tommy and Marylou moved back to Marlow where they would raise their family. They shared over 56 years together before Tommy preceded her in death. She was also very active in her church, First United Methodist Church of Marlow. She became a member there at the age of 8, and she was Chairman of Bible School, church librarian, sang in the choir, helped with children's programs, President of United Methodist Women several times, and helped with anything else where she could. Marylou was a devout Christian, and she carried a profound gratitude for God's blessings in her life. Marylou leaves behind a legacy of love and servitude for those she leaves behind to carry on.
