MaryAnn V. Rzepka, 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was born on March 27, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Stanley and Irene (Demski) Szynski. MaryAnn retired in February 1999 from Osco Drug where she was employed as a Cosmetician for 33 years. On June 8, 1957 she married Walter F. Rzepka who preceded her in death on March 10, 2007. MaryAnn is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Switalski and Sandra (Randy) Wlodarski both of Granger, Indiana; four grandchildren, Melissa Switalski, Ashlyn Wlodarski, Miles Switalski and Alexius Wlodarski; one great granddaughter, Arianna Nash; one sister, Julie Lichnerowicz; and two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Szynski and Helen Szilagyi. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Deacon Eugene Szynski; her son-in-law, Mark Switalski; and her brother-in-law, Victor Lichnerowicz. MaryAnn was a graduate of Washington High School. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society and participated in the Adoration Program for 36 years. She loved to spend time with her family and you could always expect Polish music and Polish food whenever you stopped by. She had a sweet tooth and a knack for decorating and loved her Bichon Frise’s and Poodles and always had the welcome mat out for rescuing stray cats. Some of her hobbies included watching game shows and the news, doing word searches, feeding the birds and maintaining her well kept yard and botanical flower gardens.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., where a rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 23, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request masses to be said in MaryAnn’s honor. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
