Maryann GarciaAugust 12, 1928 - May 14, 2022Resident of Santa ClaraMaryann "Ann" Garcia passed peacefully on May 14th in Santa Clara, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Martin. Ann was born in Hepzibah, West Virginia on August 12, 1928, the oldest of five children. Ann was educated in Hamden, Connecticut where she grew up. She later attended the Stone Business College in New Haven. In 1952, Ann married the love of her life, Martin M. Garcia, and they were happily married for 62 years. Ann and Martin traveled for three years while he was serving in the Air Force. Upon his discharge, they moved to Santa Clara, California, where they started a family and a successful business. They became the proud parents of Martin A. and Glenda L. Garcia. The family grew to include six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ann and Martin became Nana and Papa to Jose, Arminda and Nathalie "Gigio" Uribe. Ann's time was split between caring for her family and sharing the responsibilities of running their restaurant, By-the-Bucket.Next to being a mother and entrepreneur, Ann's greatest passion was music. She studied voice for many years and belonged to several musical groups and church choirs, singing well into her 80's. Ann was an avid patron of the opera, symphony, and musicals. Some of her favorite activities and hobbies were playing piano, golfing, and painting. She loved to swim and belonged to the YMCA for 44 years. Ann was also a longtime volunteer at the local Senior Center.Services will be on Sunday, May 29th at 2:30, held at Lima Family Mortuary.
