Mary Grace Woloson, age 99, passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2021, at her home in Tampa, Florida. She is preceded by her husband of 70 years, Theodore "Ted" Woloson, and is survived by her son John and wife Rosa, and daughters Jan, Joyce, Judy and her husband John Anderson. She is also survived by five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five great-step-grandchildren and two great-great-step-grandchildren. Mary Grace was born in Detroit, Michigan, September 6, 1922, to Anthony and Elizabeth Barbone, who married in the US after migrating from Vasto, Italy. Mary Grace was their first of four children. She attended Wayne State University from 1940 to 1944. After graduation, she started her teaching career at Lingemann School in Detroit. Mary Grace met Ted Woloson just prior to the start of WWII, and they married July 20, 1946. In 1950 while expecting her first child, Mary Grace received a master's degree in Adolescent Psychology at the same time Ted received his master's degree in Personnel Management. Mary Grace continued to teach over the years while raising their four children. As Ted developed his career in College and University HR, they moved from Detroit to Dayton OH, to Tampa FL, to St Louis, and then back to Tampa for retirement. Starting in 1986, for 12 years Mary Grace and Ted volunteered for the Red Cross in Tampa, providing relief services during hurricanes, floods, and storms. They also volunteered for over 20 years as ushers at Tampa's Straz Performing Arts Ctr., square danced regularly, and were active in their church community. Mary Grace and Ted were avid travelers, visiting 50 states, China, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, South America, Africa, Egypt, most of Europe, the Panama Canal, and took 26 cruises. When Ted passed away in February 2017, Mary Grace maintained an active life. She regularly attended Mass, took her turn hosting monthly poker with friends, enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids, and continued annual stays at her timeshares on the beach where she and Ted had watched sunsets together for years. Everyday Mary Grace prayed for the day she and Ted would be reunited once again. Four years and nine months after he passed, her prayers were answered. Services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation is at 9:00 AM with Mass at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
