Mary Jo Warren was born to Joseph and Stella Knight on October 25, 1932 in Dublin, GA. She was the 10th of 12 children. In her High School Senior yearbook , they said Mary was going to go to the big city and make it big. When she would visit family and friends in Georgia, her sister Sylvia said, it was like a celebrity event with everyone trying to get together with her.
After graduation, she moved to Atlanta and worked in clothing sales. She later moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area where she went into the Real Estate business and made it big! She was a beautiful, accomplished, intelligent, savvy business woman with fiery red hair. She did it all and did it well, with grace and ease. She has taught her family the value of hard work and set such a great example for her daughter and all her grandchildren.
She was a very faithful, loving, generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She loved to help people that needed it and took great joy in finding just the right gift and making people smile. Mary loved doing for others, especially her family. If there was a need, she would do her best to meet it. She had a zest for life and gave encouragement to everyone around her.
She loved to travel the world, take cruises with family and friends, spend time on the beach, and document all occasions with photos. She enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, dancing, playing cards, gardening, and hosting family events.
She is preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings; son, Michael Vines; grandson, Dustin Stapleton; and her soulmate, Bob Steele.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Debra Duke (James); grandson, James Duke (Jessie); granddaughter-in-law, Kassie; great-grandchildren; Shannique Stapleton, Chessa Stapleton, Jourdan Guinn (Garret), Jacob Duke; great-great-grandchildren, Corey, Amberlynn, Levi; and nephew, Kurt Knight (Mary) in Texas.
