Mary Jackson Stivers passed away on September 10, 2021 at the age of 94. She had lived at Marsh's Edge in St. Simons Island since 2015.
Mary was born and raised in Cartersville, GA, daughter of Robert Jackson and Laura Dodd Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Theodore(Ted) Stivers, her twin sister, Martha Kennedy and six brothers. She was an alumna of Shorter College . Mary co-owned and operated a floral business in Rome. She was active in the First United Methodist Church in Rome, and the United Fund of Rome
In 1973 she married Theodore (Ted) Stivers. They lived in Decatur GA and were members of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church They travelled extensively and were very active in the Republican Party. After living in Naples, FL for several years, the Stivers' moved to St. Simons Island in 2002.
She was loved and will be missed by her survivors and friends. She is survived by two step-daughters, one step-son, two nieces and two nephews as well as step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, grand nieces and nephews. The entire family owes a great debt of gratitude to Jackie Folmar of Brunswick, who took care of Mary for nine years and was her devoted friend.
A private graveside service will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, GA.
