Mary Ellen (Smith) Sologuren, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away on July 7, 2022. Loving wife of the late Luis (Lucho) R. Sologuren, Sr. for 55 years, and survived by her three children: Luis R. Sologuren, Jr. (Maira) of Fort Lauderdale, George M. Sologuren (Margie) of Ocala, and Nancie Sologuren Bucher (William) of Raleigh, NC; dedicated grandmother of 7, and cherished great-grandmother of 5. She is also survived by a sister, Nancy (Smith) Dentz of Annapolis, MD and several nieces and nephews.Mary Ellen was born and raised in Baltimore, and was a resident of Fort Lauderdale since 1966. She was a Records Retention Specialist at the School Board of Broward County, Florida, for over 25 years before she retired in 1996. She and Lucho then served as volunteers and Eucharist Ministers at Holy Cross Hospital for over 10 years, collectively donating thousands of hours of their time to the non-profit Catholic hospital in Fort Lauderdale. They were also active parishioners of St. Coleman Catholic Church in Pompano Beach for more than five decades.A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 South Ocean Blvd, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL 33062. Private interment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, North Fort Lauderdale.Flowers may be sent to the Assumption Catholic Church.
