Mary Mintz Shiveley Smith, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Born in Wilmington, NC on June 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Rev. M. L. Mintz and Lillian Mintz. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles B. Shiveley and Harold A. Smith; and her sister, Virginia M. Saunders.
Mary grew up in Brunswick County and moved with her family to Rocky Mount in 1973, where she lived until 2019.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Shiveley of Apex and Mary Hewett and husband Steve, of Wilson; her one grandson, Chris Hewett; her two great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum with Dr. Robert Westlund officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary's memory to Englewood Presbyterian Church, 100 S. Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
