Mary L. Shaeffer

Mary L. Shaeffer, 73, of Newark, DE passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE.

Born in Bel Air, MD she was the daughter of the late C. Stanley and Katherine M. (Neiser) Wildason. Mary enjoyed singing and playing the bass on stage and was very musically talented from a young age. She worked as a bartender for many years at the New Freedom VFW Post 7012 before moving to Delaware and loved going to the Delaware Park Casino.

Mary is survived by one son Rodney L. Shaeffer and partner Ellen Townsend of Glen Rock, PA; two grandsons Layne Shaeffer and Judd Shaeffer; one brother John D. Wildason and wife Junita of New Freedom, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother C. Stanley Wildason, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 at 2:00PM from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA 17349 with Rev. Dr. Roy C. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Freedom Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. The family encourages those attending to please wear a mask and social distance as necessary.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Stroke Foundation, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Suite B., Centennial, CO 80112 in her memory.
