Mary Emma Schnoor went to heaven on December 11, 2021 at the age of 91 in Burlington, Washington, where she resided and was so wonderfully cared for at Where the Heart Is Assisted Living and Memory Care.
She was one of six children born to Fred and Cleo Mae Elbie in Compton, California on May 23, 1930. The family moved to Kirkland, Washington where their father owned a logging business. However, at an early age, the children lost their parents and then went to live with their Aunt and Uncle Sartor who, with four children of their own, helped raise them until they could find good homes for each child. Mary moved on to one other home, but then moved to Kirkland and lived her teenage years with Margaret and Jimmy McEvoy whom she remembered very fondly.
Upon graduating from Kirkland High School, she was blessed to be able to attend Western Washington State College. She was very involved in college activities, two of which were swimming and golfing. These two became lifelong pursuits. She received a three-year teaching degree from Western and upon graduation moved to Burlington where she taught Kindergarten.
Not long after, Mary was married to Richard (Dick) Green. They lived in Bellevue, Washington for a few years but lived in Bellingham, Washington for most of their married life. They had five children, four of which were born within five years. There were two boys and three girls which made for a very happy, busy life. Camping and staying at a favorite cabin on the ocean were some of the highlights of family time, along with swimming and water skiing on Lake Whatcom, where they came to live.
Later in life she married Robert (Bob) Schnoor. They lived in a beautiful home overlooking Bellingham Bay. Bob had three children with whom Mary and Bob enjoyed many happy memories in their family home. They both also traveled to many places in the world experiencing great adventures together. They were together close to 30 years before Bob passed away.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jan and Jody Pool; son and daughter-in-law Dan and Helen Green; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Mary Green; son-in-law Wayne Gibson; stepdaughter Nikki Bellour; stepson and wife Jeff and Ann Schnoor; stepson and wife Casey and Marlisa Schnoor; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She will always be remembered and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Schnoor; her former husband Richard (Dick) Green; two daughters Dana Lynn Gibson and Marya Jane Green; her sisters Virginia Vansteenkiste and Carolyn Jones and her brothers Robert Elbie, Henry (Hank) Elbie and Stan Elbie.
