Mary Sue (Susi) Franki Schmidt
November 13, 1950 - August 17, 2024
Susi passed away Saturday August 17, 2024, at her home in Gillespie County. Susi was born and raised in Austin and was the third of four children born to Alfred David Franki and Edna Mary Anderson Franki of Austin, Texas. Susi was married to Lester E. Schmidt since March 6, 1982.
Above all others, Susi loved Jesus. She loved her family and friends unwaveringly. She was an accomplished seamstress, and many people have items that she made especially for them or repaired for them. She was always willing to help her friends and family and had great compassion for people - especially in their struggles. One of her sisters said, "her specialty was love". This is a true statement. She worked for many years as a legal paraprofessional and was known for her keen attention to detail and always gave 100% to her projects. In her peak years she could type as fast as many people can speak. She loved and appreciated beauty and could find it anywhere. Her greatest joy was being an Oma to her four grandchildren.
Susi is survived by her Husband Lester Schmidt; Daughter and Son-in-law Julie and Kenneth Moore; and three Grandsons, Josh Moore, Ross Moore, Mark Moore and one Granddaughter and Grandson in-law, Olivia and Daniel Dreyer. In addition, she is survived by her two Sisters, Fredi Franki, Roni Franki and one Brother, Dan Franki. She is also survived by her Brother's and Sister's in-law, Douglas and Jean Schmidt, Dennis and Betty Jo Schmidt and Greg and Holly Schmidt. She had many Nieces and Nephews: Beau Jacobson, Cherryl Dionne, Diana Bartra, Billy Schmidt, Wayne Schmidt, Waylon Schmidt, Shane Schmidt, Blake Schmidt, Brook Bodenhamer, Hilary King and Regan Schmidt and spouses.
Susi is preceded in death by her Parents Fred and Edna Franki and her Father and Mother in-law, Elgin and Jackie Schmidt.
