Mary (Maye) Katrenak Pikiel, age 96, has peacefully passed away on November 1, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte, Florida. Her family was with her at her bedside.
She was born on May 15, 1925, in Webster, Massachusetts to the late
Stanley and Constance (Wawrzyniak) Piascik, both of Webster, Massachusetts.
Maye leaves her sons, Paul Denis Katrenak of Rotonda West, Florida, and Randy J. Katrenak of Englewood, Florida, also her grandchildren: Brandon Katrenak of Thompson, Connecticut, Cagney L. Katrenak of Sarasota, Florida, and Arianne M. Katrenak Of Myakka City, Florida, and several great grandchildren, both in Connecticut and Florida.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 yrs, Paul H. Katrenak, who died in 1984 on her birthday, her husband of 7 yrs, Edward L. Pikiel, in 1996, and her close friend and companion of over 12 yrs, Louis Decsi, in 2018. She has lost several other close friends along the way.
She lived in Webster, Massachusetts most of her life where she worked in accounting for several local businesses, until retiring to Florida in 2001, where she had made many friends. Maye loved to dance, and she and Lou won several trophies for their Jitterbug dance stylings. She stayed active and enjoyed being with family and friends and her pet Siamese cat Samantha. She will be remembered for her fun-loving personality and will be missed by all who knew her. A private ceremony and Celebration of Life will be held locally.
